No, REALLY Bucking Convention

We’ve spent the last eleven months living in our camper. Twice we almost gave up and purchased some roots. Both times were due to the feeling of uneasiness that came over us when Savannah was diagnosed with diabetes. It is one thing to be homeless due to circumstance, it is another thing entirely to choose it. To revel in it. To roll around in it and get it all over you.

There are a few pissed off realtors in our wake that do not appreciate backing out (read coming to the realization that you do not really HAVE to do anything if it doesn’t feel right) at the last minute. To them I say, well, I say nothing, really. We both lost some money on the deal.

And with that, things to look forward to in the coming weeks:

  • Reveling in the second summer of being homeless
  • Shaving in the mirror of an F-350 on dewy mornings
  • Laughing at the fact that working from home involves a cell phone, a MacBook Pro with a broadband card and a collapsible lawn chair
  • A campfire most every night
  • Falling asleep under the stars, next to the fire
  • The children laughing and running together outside
  • Watching them grow even less fearful of amphibians, reptiles and insects
  • Walks in the woods
  • Picking up my camera again
