New Equipment

Polarization filter vs. unfiltered

I received two new camera lenses for Christmas—a Canon 50mm f1.8 II and a Canon 28mm f2.8. This afternoon I picked up a circular polarizing filter for shooting outdoors.

Here are nine photos of a drive along Fort Lauderdale Beach.

Note: These photos have been Lomoized.

Ya know, I’ve seen the word “lomo” on a lot of photo blogs. What exactly is it?

  2. Terry Eaton Says:

It comes from the type of photos taken with this camera.

Originally a Soviet spy camera, the Lomo takes images that are extremely saturated–usually darker around the edges of the photo with a brighter center. The link in the post is to a Photoshop action that will produce a similar effect with a digital photo.

    Ahhhh okay! Now I understand.
